V2WORK's SERVICE COURSE: SHARPENING PRESENTATION AND PUBLIC SPEAKING SKILLS
On January, 14th 2021, at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH), within the framework of work package No.4 of V2WORK project, Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies hosted a training course on: “ Sharpening presentation and public speaking skills'”, presented by Dr. Duong Ngoc Dung. The course had the participation of CVSEAS’s representatives and USSH’s students.
Sharing at the sessions, Dr. Dung pointed out that anxiety was the biggest problem which the majority of presenters suffered from. He advised presenters to carefully prepare, manage the time frame and draw up a detailed content for the speech to overcome the public speaking anxiety. Besides, he stated that the presenters could master their presentation skills through practicing, which helped them to adjust their public speaking styles while having a talk in front of the crowd. The other factors that the presenters needed to pay attention were the format and content of the presentation, which should be consistent with the context and purpose of the speech.
Dr Dung is sharing his experience in public speaking.
In addition, Dr. Dung noticed that the presenters must focus on the structure of their speech, including introduction, contents and conclusion. The introduction, accordingly, initially gripped the attention of the audience to the speech and followed up to the content logically. The conclusion called for audiences to take action. Presentation and public speaking skills are the essential skills and decisive factors not only to strengthen the learning and working process but also to enhance their confidence, which helps presenters to achieve success in their career.
