V2WORK'S SERVICE: POSITIONING PERSONAL BRAND AND WRITING EFFECTIVE CVs

With the hope to provide useful knowledge related to the recruitment and job opportunities following the spirit of the V2WORK Project, the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies organized the service class "Positioning Personal Brands and Writing Successful CVs”, presented by Ms. Dang Thi Chau Ngoc - Southern Branch Manager at TopCV.

In her sharing, Ms. Chau Ngoc gave an overview of the concept of “personal brands” and the benefits it brought to students in the job-seeking process. In her opinion, “personal brand” was the image that people see of you, which can be a combination of your appearance, your personality, your career, and your social contribution. To build personal branding, students need to understand themselves, recognize their strengths and weaknesses, and be aware of what they want to set goals for their life. Positioning, or building, was the next step after students determined their goals, which was gathered by cultivating knowledge of expertise, society, soft skills, etc. Building personal branding has many benefits in the job-seeking process, working, and career promotion.

Besides her sharing on the principles and benefits of personal brand, the speaker had a talk on how to have a successful CV in both form and content. According to her experience in the recruitment process, generally, it takes the recruiters only 6 seconds to have the initial assessments and came to the decision whether or not to look more in-deepth at your CV. That’s why the selection and arrangement of information should be taken seriously. With each regulation or CV design advice, the speaker gave specific examples so that participants could imagine the do's and don'ts when promoting themselves through their CV. In addition to sharing knowledge, Ms. Ngoc also gave advice on career development orientation based on her experiences.
